Job Summary:

Set-up, adjust and operate a variety of machine tools (including CNC, lathes, milling machines, boring machines and grinders) to perform progressive machining operations on a diversified line of close tolerance work (metallic and nonmetallic work pieces) requiring a high degree of skill and machining techniques.

Experience / Training:

Minimum three to five years previous experience. Ability to work from drawings, specifications and job layouts.

Essential Functions:

  • Read blueprints or job order for product specifications such as dimensions and tolerances, and tooling instructions such as fixtures, feed rates, cutting speeds, depth of cut. Determine sequence of operations. Identify conformity of material requirements.
  • Grind and adapt tooling and attachments for special work requirements.
  • Diagnose and rectify tooling problems and machine malfunctions. Perform routine maintenance on machines and tooling.
  • May set-up machines for operation by others.
  • Use a wide variety of precision measuring instruments.
  • Able to hold tolerances as close as .0005”.
  • Train others as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
