Heat, Quench & Temper

HeatThe use of induction heating equipment for through-hardening applications provides a number of advantages over the traditional furnace hardening process. These advantages include reduced scale formation, little or no decarburization, better part quality, reduction in the need for protective atmospheres, better working conditions, seamless integration of induction processing equipment in a manufacturing production line and adaptability to modern automated handling systems.

Product is typically moved through a series of induction coils, heating the product up to the austenitizing (hardening) temperature and seamlessly into an in-line quenching chamber. In many applications, the product continues on into the temper heating station, then onto a temper quenching station (if required). Product emerges from one integrated system completely hardened and tempered.
